An officer detains a man for filming a police station. He asks which legal section she's using. She can't answer. Then she pretends it never happened.

Today we break down an intense encounter at an Essex police station, where an officer demands ID, makes an unlawful detention, and backtracks on camera โ€” all while the auditor's camera is rolling.

โš–๏ธ Legal Context:
โ€ข There is NO general requirement to identify yourself to police in England & Wales. You must only provide details under specific powers (arrest, Section 50 Police Reform Act 2002, or while driving).
โ€ข PACE 1984 (Police and Criminal Evidence Act): Any detention MUST include grounds โ€” the officer must state the legal power and reason. Failure to do so makes the detention unlawful.
โ€ข Trespass (England & Wales): Simple trespass is a CIVIL matter, not criminal. Police cannot arrest you for it. It only becomes criminal as "aggravated trespass" under Section 68 CJPOA 1994.
โ€ข Section 43 Terrorism Act 2000: Stop and search requires REASONABLE SUSPICION that a person is a terrorist. Filming a police station is NOT grounds for suspicion.
โ€ข Photography in public places is lawful. No officer can demand you stop filming or provide a reason for filming.
