On the surface, Sinners is a period vampire flick, but it's true meaning can be found in the intersection of blues music and horror movies.

DANCE WITH THE DEVIL. Sinners (2025) follows the stories of Elijah and Elias Moore -- also known as Smoke and Stack, or The Smokestack Twins -- a twin pair of former gangsters who return to their hometown to open a juke joint, whose opening turns into the defining mistake of their lives. But the lore in Sinners doesn't tell the whole story. Using the hidden articles on the film's official Spotify soundtrack, digging deeper into the music and its meaning and studying the historical time setting -- the parallels between Ryan Coogler's vampires and real historical groups of evil become clear, and we can better understand the timelines of this gunslinging genome pair.

Stack (twin in red) worked for the Italian mob, while Smoke (twin in blue) worked for the Irish mob. It’s why stack has the fedora and Italian style duds, while smoke has the newsboy cap and looks straight out of peaky blinders

Michael B. Jordan should be nominated for best actor for playing Smoke and best supporting actor for playing Stack.

The father hates one of the twin because he blames him for the death of the mom. The twin that go stuck

@naturallymemarie9650 11 months ago

I don't think their father treated Stack harsh because of him being the weaker less dominant twin. I think it had to do with the fact that Stack was the one that got stuck in their mom and he probably blames Stack for her death, assuming she died during child birth.

Annie was such a beautiful character, seeing her and her baby at the end was so bittersweet 💔

@Sunsh1n3gal 11 months ago

Man I absolutely bawled at all the endings. The fact that smoke ended up getting to the “afterlife” with Annie and their baby. And the one final song from Sammi for Mary and Stack. Man what a film.

Something tells me that Annie not only made sure the mojo bag protected Smoke it also protected Stack too even though he wasn't given one because she knows how close & strong the twins bonds were. She even mentioned it when she was making a new mojo bag for Smoke when he came back from Chicago.

When he said Chicago is just like Mississippi with tall buildings, he was talking abt racism and the job market for black ppl. Most migrated up North, because they were under the impression that racism wasn't so bad, and black ppl could find employment. When they arrived, they has a rude wake up call. A lot turned to crime.

Who's here after Michael B Jordan won the oscars, and so as Ryan Coogler?

This movie was amazing. I have Irish ancestry and it was great to hear music from the culture my ancestors abandoned to fit in here. Remmick is a perfect example of how the oppressed became the oppressor in our history. Once Irish and other white immigrants were classified as white, they ran with it

@AshleyMillerTV 11 months ago

The Mississippi and Chicago line is the referring to the fact that a lot of us Chicagoans family comes from Mississippi and they came up to Chicago during the great migration, thinking things would be better up north than in the south. The reality is that the racism was still there

Funny how the twins present how the two different gangs operated. The Italians liked to have rules and etiquette while the Irish were about brawn and chaos

The symbolism and beauty in this movie was UNMATCHED

Smoke and Annie were actually married. There relationship weren't just on hold it was estranged because they were married

Sinners was such a good movie in my opinion. Hulu added it to their platform and I ended up watching it 5 times within a week because It was that good.

@WhatupdoeTV313 11 months ago

4:50 Actually only one of twins worked for Al Capone, the other one worked with the Irish Mob. Hence why one had on an Italian mob style suit and the other had an Irish mob style suit.

Loved this movie. I really wish there would be some sequels or prequals. One movie about Remmicks journey from his vampire beginnings to his battles with the Crows. One movie about the Smokestack twins past. And a movie about Stack and Mary's vampire travels. I want to watch them all.
