St Francis wanted to be totally at the disposal of Holy GOD, the King of Kings.!!!
Renember, holy Francis was a soldier at a turning point: The Lord posed to him an important question:
'Is it greater to serve the King...or His Servant?' Francis thus was taught that earthly Kings are mere servants of the Lord, too!
As Francis gloriously says:
"Preach the Gospel Always... and when necessary, use words."

Luke 9:62 Jesus said to him, 'Once the hand is laid on the plough, no one who looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.'
The church is not going backwards.
It is always moving forward .
