Hiking in Japan, from transportation to accommodation, rest, and food, is a very different experience from hiking in Taiwan.

This time, we hiked Mount Akade, a 25km route with an elevation gain of 1800m. There were only five mountain huts along the way, making it easy to hike even for two days and one night. You don't need to bring tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, food, or cooking utensils. The food at the huts is delicious and plentiful, and there are plenty of places to stay overnight.

With light gear and multiple places to resupply and rest along the way, the hike is much easier. After experiencing this a few times, hiking the 100 peaks of Taiwan feels a bit strenuous 😅 (I'm hopeless).

Our route:
Day 1: Minoto - Akade Mine Spring
Day 2: Akade Mine Spring - Izu-dake - Akade - Hiker's Hut - Minoto
