JR Shikoku was founded in 1987, and the Setouchi Ohashi Line opened in April 1988.
JR Shikoku had a full lineup of direct diesel express trains, but due to a train shortage, they were unable to keep up with the demands of the Kanto region. They focused on the underpowered 111 series, equipped with an MT46 motor, and restored it to the JNR Settlement Corporation.
Without this, the 111 series would have been scrapped, and I was truly grateful to see it return to service on the railroad, even if only for a short time.
This time, we'll introduce you to the 111 series that has been revived in Shikoku, despite its unique circumstances.

非力かどうか関係なく過酷な運用でも走り切る設計の国鉄車両ゆえの奇跡でしょう。
更に第二の人生開始早々、213系だけでなく臨時マリンライナーとしてやってきた167系、115系、117系などの兄弟たちとも巡り会えた111系は間違いなく幸せだったことでしょう。
動画の主役はあくまで111系ですが、冒頭のキハ181系いしづちは音だけで「あっ、キハ181系だ」とわかりました。
車両や駅舎が懐かしすぎます。
観音寺行きの各駅停車は児島からはボート開催時以外はほぼガラガラでゆったりと車内でした。
無くなってしまい残念です。
111/113系達もまさかの廃車復活、そして自力で海を渡り、製造時には電化率0％だった四国を走るとは思いもしなかったでしょうね!
狭く薄いオリジナルボックスシートのモケットの座り心地があの匂いと共に懐かしく思い出されます♪
JR新時代を拓く2000系ディーゼル特急との共演も堪りません
また瀬戸大橋を渡るのにトイレが使用出来ないのは辛かったと思いますが、使用中止だった理由は垂れ流し式なのかもしれませんね。

瀬戸大橋線が開業した時に行った四国旅行で高松から児島まで乗ったことがあります。
入線してきたとき前面表示器がLED化されていてびっくりした記憶があり
またドアが閉まる時に勢いが強すぎて一回で閉まらずバウンドして
から閉まってそれにも驚きでした。
元は静岡から来た車両だったんですね。
ホワイトにさわやかなブルーラインで好きなカラーリングの車両でした。

それにこのタイプのドア、１０３系などの直線状はよく見かけるも裾を曲げた形状は１１３系などを含めても他所で見かけた記憶が無く。
貴重なドアだったように思います。
クリームに水色が似合ってました。
つなぎ役かもしれませんが、引退前にリバイバルで湘南色にしてもらえた辺り大切にしてもらえたんだなと。
久々に瀬戸大橋線に乗って四国へ行ってみたい。高松へ行ってことでんを乗りまくろう。
