Your reactions and insight on the "Kris plays" pieces are really interesting, considering those are some of the few diegetic tracks in-game: the ability to play the piano seems to be very important to Kris, as one of their principle outlets of expressions once they are not controlled by the player, and the fact that you could spot Kris knowing some melodies better than others I feel could be used to interpret things about their character, personality or thoughts regarding the things or people related to the melodies they play.

51:44 Well the neat thing is, you already have! That's just a snippet of Neverending Night. It's just that the first time you hear it, it gets cut off early, which requires a separate audio file.

If u didnt know, toby fox has severe carpal tunnel and cannot play for prolonged periods of time anymore. Nor code, nor game. All the things he loved to do all the time. So when kris manages to play piano in the game, just for a small moment of control on their life, it's a very emotional experience.

Dan, this was a fantastic stream. It was great officially meeting you and the Guild. Thank you for taking the time to help me become a better composer. I really appreciate it. 😁

1:07:40 the 'second atrium' is the entrance to the second dark world introduced in chapter 4, called the Second Sanctuary. the three sanctuaries opened in this chapter, those being the Dark Sanctuary, Second Sanctuary, and Third Sanctuary, respectively, represent the concepts of thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. the Second Sanctuary is the mirror image of the Dark Sanctuary, opened in the same location but by one of differing will of mind from the original. as such, this dark world is hue-shifted, shows the opposite sides of several Dark Sanctuary rooms, reverses the function of the piano block gimmick, rotates prophecy panels, and, by far most notably, completely swaps which darkners are animate and which are statues. the entire thing is the polar opposite of the Dark Sanctuary, and the reversal of this simple ambience is meant to communicate that

The Kris plays songs are more or less their first attempts at playing those songs, only having heard them before. Kris is actually a phenomenal piano player.

Crazy how he picked up on the undyne motif in traffic jam

@Melko7777 2 months ago

Hi dan, I heard you haven't played deltarune yet so I have a question. Would you concider livestreaming your playthrough when you'll finally decide to play the game? Much love and thanks for teaching us music!

@Atomic_Cofefe 2 months ago

There’s a really cool video of Flower Man where it plays like 20 fan covers at once and it works REALLY well, musically and thematically!

@nimbusshadow-wings 2 months ago

sevenfour breaks my heart. Deltarune is the only game where playing it actively harms the main character. Kris is so precious

@Azyraasr 2 months ago

1:23:35 getting recommended your own stream while you're streaming is such a vibe

@strongfish9166 2 months ago

actually, the traffic jam just contains spear of justice, your best friend, dog song, and metal crusher.

@VilicyRose 2 months ago

You should listen to the Yume Nikki ost if you haven’t, Undertale and deltarune’s osts are SUPER inspired by it, you’ll definitely hear resemblance in them

Had no idea Kris played Shop 3 before it showed up in ch5

@aetherseeker 2 months ago

I cannot stress enough that this is a game that is well worth your time to play. Actually seeing what happens when the music plays really sells how much both the music and story go hand in hand
