I made my coffe-mead I used cold brew for primary, and then lightly whacked beans in secondary, it came out so well in my opinion, and a few other people who have had some.

How much whole bean would you add in secondary of coffee was not the main flavor but just another layer of flavor? Per gallon?

Often coffee beans are added into chilled beers prior to packaging. Do you think there would be a difference in mead? Besides slower diffusion of flavours and potentially a bit of coffee oils sitting on top of the liquid, I can’t think of something that would drastically change the outcome.

How coincidental that you just did this test, and now my wife has challenged me to make a cappuccino mead. I like the idea of using a combo of whole bean and espresso shots. But I don't have an espresso/cappuccino maker right now. I do have a Keurig Duo, though. But that gets confusing. Black Rifle Company makes their "beyond black" K-Cup. Which has the equivalent of two shots of espresso's worth of caffeine. The smallest volume I can make a K-Cup is 6 ounces. Not sure what to do!

My secret for coffeemel is a really good instant coffee added in secondary to flavor. But it does taste like camp percolator coffee and I love it for that
