I'm not trying to be disrespectful with this comment, I just wanted to save people in a rush some time!

You didn't like Gladiator?

WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

You know this is old when Doug is talking about Cars 2 and hoping it gets better

In Matilda, the evil woman was Miss Trunchbull, the headmistress. The good teacher was Miss Honey, who was also Miss Trunchbull's niece. The girl didn't do anything wrong, Miss Trunchbull just didn't like her pigtails.

Gladiator: "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?"

Critic: Noooooooo.....

"there's already Avatar sequels being made"

Damn that's a long time in development.

"There's a sequel of Cars coming up, hopefully it's better"

Nope. Nope it wasn't.

Wait
People like cars
I thought I was the only

I was arguing about movies with a girl from my school and she told me: "Avatar was so successful because it was so original." I facedesked

"Symbolism works where even if you don't know what the symbolism is, the story still works"
[cue The Office desk slap thank you clip]

I wanna see Matilda as a Nostalgia Critic review

I absolutely lost it at 24:08. Matilda literally shoves the wide angle closeups in your face and it’s utterly frightening and hilarious

People do know that Matilda was based on a Roald Dahl book, right? Books where absolutely horrible and terrible things happen to the characters - blowing up like a blueberry, turning into mice, getting eaten by rhinos... Honestly, it's all part of the charm and a great part of people's childhoods. I highly doubt it's meant to be taken seriously.

It's sad when Zootopia: a kids movie does a better job about teaching a message against prejudice than the movie made for adults.

Matilda was a revenge/vindication plot set in elementary school.  The movie is designed to give people who have had awful parents or bad teachers or people that just didn't get the appreciation and support they wished for as a kid some revenge.  It's like any revenge movie.  75% of it is designed to make you hate the bad people who have power over the main character, and the rest is the satisfying revenge.

It's so weird watch Doug's older videos when he had hair.

Doug: "There's a sequel of Cars coming out. Hopefully, it's better."
...Oh just you wait.....

Doug, you mentioned having some films that you hated until you saw the ending. Would love to see a list of films like that - explaining what was so great about the ending that turned you around.

1:34- 10 Cars
4:10- 9 Gladiator
6:30- 8 American Pie
8:44- 7 Avatar
12:08- 6 With Honors
14:26- 5 Signs
18:26- 4 Nell
22:58- 3 Matilda
27:04- 2 Distric 9
35:18- 1 Moulin Rouge

I remember reading Matilda, and thinking that if it was a cartoon, it would be cool, with all the over the top weirdness. But in live action, it's a tad uncomfortable
