His surname is Tran, born in 1947 in Dong Thap, Vietnam.
He entered monastic life in 1962, receiving the novice ordination in 1967 in Cao Lanh, Dong Thap.
He received the full ordination in 1972 at the Huyen Trang Great Ordination Ceremony at Phat An Temple, My Tho.
He graduated from the Dharma Propagation Lecturer course in 1972-1973 at Phat Quang Temple, Saigon.
He came to Chan Khong Monastery in 1973 and returned to Thuong Chieu in 1975.
After three years of retreat in his hometown of Cao Lanh, he returned to Chan Khong in 1980.
He became the abbot of Quan The Am Temple in Da Lat in 1993.
He came to the United States in 2001, residing at Loc Uyen Monastery, San Diego.

He began guiding Buddhist study groups in Southern California and other states in the United States from 2003 to the present.

He He has been the spiritual leader of the Compassionate Eyes for Life Foundation since 2008.
Currently, he is the advisor and administrator of the Thousand Buddhas Temple in Greensboro, North Carolina.
