I was drawn to it right away because I had the privilege of getting hired to build an exhibit inside the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry in 2022. While I was there, I was able to also take a close look, (and extended private tour) in the actual U-505 that is there on display. There is an amazing story behind it's capture and it's journey to ultimately becoming a giant museum exhibit. But... The boat's history from 1940 to June 1944 is far, far more interesting!! From early success, to strange malfunctions, sabotage, a crazy lucky escape from air attack, and even to the suicide of its manic depressive commander inside the boat while on war patroll!!
I'm over half way thru the book and it's already in my top 10 all time! Hopefully you can add it to the channel for others to enjoy as well.
