I just bought my minty 90 na miata 2 weeks ago. I can confirm that this is the best buyers guide by far! Very detailed and covers everything! Great video!

Im def getting a miata for my first car, this helps alot, love your video dude!

This is the best video I've seen on this topic!  I would just add that the purchaser should pop the trunk and check for leaks there from the drip rail drain getting clogged and overflowing.  It would probably show up with the sniff test in the interior, but it can't hurt when you're searching for rust spots.

Wish I’d watched this before I bought a NA at online auction and the head gasket went a week later

Another thing people dont usually consider is if you buy a LOW mileage car that is  like 25 years old....figure on having to replace nearly everything.
Timing belt, water pump, sensors, belts, hoses, radiator, emissions parts etc.
sitting and not being driven i believe is worse than having higher miles.
My current 99 has around 63K original miles, Ive done all the above and still have to replace the top and repaint the entire car. It's a nice car and luckily from before it was driven off the showroom floor it was treated with undercoating so that has helped a lot with the rust it would have had, but a LOT of stuff has went bad from sitting that long

I'm about to go test drive my first 1990 miata, this video has really helped me up my confidence when it comes to things to look out for. Thanks!

I just bought a 1999 NB with only 35k miles. The car looks like a brand new vehicle.

Best miata channel on YT... thanks ... i'm a newbie mechanic SLASH '90 NA owner. Been wrenching on my NA for a couple of years; I really appreciate the content you put out. Will definitely go back and spot check my car. .... in terms of content - i'd love to see a stereo swap in video from start to finish - with subwoofer ... there's not too much out there

I’ve been summoned

Just bought a 97 black NA soft top. 120k miles. 2 owners. Driven in Minnesota summers only. No rust. A little beat-up interior. Paid $5k. Love it! Great video and tips! TY

Just wanted to say I really loved this video! You were informative and soft spoken, which allowed me to not feel overwhelmed with all the information.

Four years later and the video is still helpful. Hopefully buying my first Miata this Sunday a 94 c package one owner 110 k miles mint
like yours so they say we will see.. now I have my check list thanks to you I feel a lot more secure in this process of hunting for the right one.thanks💪

I just picked up a west coast owned NA with 50K.  Really great video, nice detail and great knowledge.  Well done!

This is the best MX-5/Miata buyers guide out there. Great stuff, right on the money 👌

I got my Silverstone NA almost 6 years ago now. It was very cheap, rusty and pretty much beaten up as I intended it to be a hobby/project car. It was the cheapest NA I could find LOL 🤠
I've owned boatloads of cars but the NA is definitely one of my absolute favourites! I've owned light and small cars before (a lot of FWD hot hatches) but this is by far the most nimble and best handling of all of them, even compared to cars like the Peugeot 205 GTI which everyone knows and loves here in Europe.

Too bad the weather and road conditions here in the Netherlands makes these cars rust out almost certainly. All Mazdas of this age, like the 323(F) and MX-3 etc. rust like crazy here and a lot of them have been scrapped because of this 😢 They use salt on the roads and it's a bit of a swamp-climate (lots of rain and moist) but I managed to fix mine up pretty well after lots of welding and DIY bodywork.. It's like 85% cosmetically and 95% technically now, which is a bit of an anomaly in these parts of Europe (they are 34 years old after all)..

To add to this content: Another weaker(-ish) part to take in into account with the 1.6 NA's is the rear diff: It's not the strongest and they do fail like mine did.. But my car has also seen some serious (track) abuse... Mazda's engine engines from this era are nearly immortal though and easy to replace or service when they do go bad in rare occasions, but when they're properly taken care of they can last 500.000kms and still sound very healthy.

Knowing the NA like the back of my hand I'm confident driving it all through Europe. I went to England a few weeks ago and next week I'm going to take my dad on a roadtrip through Germany 👍

Other than the quiet audio, the guide is very nice. You specify issues that are repairable verses not, which seems like many guides don't talk about. I have no issues replacing a radiator or some interior bits, but engine out stuff would be something else.

Great info.  Very thorough and great presentation (audio, video, commentary).   I bought my first Miata (94) about a month ago.....engine out, basket case.  Engine is almost finished being assembled by me (machine work by a local auto machine shop) and ready to reinstall.  Lots of great info on your channel for my project.  I reference your videos often in my build.  Thanks for sharing.

Awesome content.  Very thorough and detailed!

Me watching this after I just bought an nb miata👁️👄👁️

thanks man, great video

Hey Mr. I really appreciate your video, I've bought one of these, and it's been wrecked, and I'm going through it completely, (as , I can).   So, I really DO appreciate your help.   Thanks, Marcel, in Yuma.
