8:20 Those mindgames don't work in gay relationships, thank god, so he is gonna try sort out whatever problem it is your having but if it's just to yap about it in circles without a clear goal or your deliberately giving mixed signals like: saying go away and them leaving and then getting upset that they are doing as you asked? well, good luck with those 'techniques', as those will destroy your relationship eventually if it is consistently happening. Now, i'm 10 years on and so happy with my fella - we have NEVER, or will ever, speak to each other like this unless being sarcastic, but i've had so many GF's that DID do this to me (the worst part? cheated on me with the neighbour/an ex-friend) so they would get very upset, now crying, when i tried to listen n help try problem solve or find a path 'this isn't what i need right now, go away' and it escalates as soon as you say anything OR stay quiet. It;s like your brain is going 'so what do you need' and then hit you with the same old mind games: 'I JUST NEED...I JUST NEED SOMEONE TO ACTUALLY LISTEN!!' 'I am listening here right now, though? is there any way i can help you with this proble-' 'OH AND HERE WE GO, MR GOTTA FIX EVERYTHING IS HERE! GO AWAY!!!' 'okay, i'm not doing this tonight, good night' 'YOUR JUST GONNA LEAVE ME?!' big argument from her ensues (Man brain: WHAT DID I DO WRONG HERE?!?).
Now... VS Me n my fella when we need to talk?: "hey, i need to talk to you about something that's been bugging me" "okay, i'm all ears" - Problem explained "oof, okay, well that is shi77y to happen/have been done to you, is there anything i can do to help?" "No, no, i just needed to vent about it" "okay, well, i'm always here for you and always have an ear to listen" "i know, and that's why i wanted to talk to you about it" "have you thought about why X person is doing or trying XYZ, and is it to just you or do others experience this there?" "...actually, i hadn't thought about it like that...yea it is mostly me getting XYZ...now that i think about it, it's starting to make sense who the problem is/how it is happening. Think I understand this much better now" and then i will go make him his fave: bacon n cheese toasties, whilst he self reflects on the situation in another room but now with better understanding. Once women figure this simple thing out about us: life may actually start to not seem so bleak for themselves
And this is why...
STRAIGHT FORWARD COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO A GOOD RELATIONSHIP - NOT BEING ILLOGICAL OR PLAYING MIND GAMES JUST TO TRY, GET WHAT YOU ASKED FOR AND THEN BE UNHAPPY WHEN THE OTHER DOESN'T PICK UP ON WHAT YOU WANTED TO HAPPEN RIGHT THERE IN YOUR HEAD AND HAVEN'T ACTUALLY SAID WHETHER YOU WANT HELPED OR WANT TO VENT JUST AND BE LISTENED TO OR LEFT ALONE TO SELF RELFECT.
If you understand and are able to start understanding stuff and improving yourself - this way you can help them reach something that is called growing your 'self-actualization': the ongoing process of fully realizing one's potential, creativity, and talents to become the best version of oneself, this is when you have had great personal growth mentally. (An example: realizing how BAD the old COD lobbies were due to how toxic you were to others and IF you feel cringe at what you used to say to/yell at people? that's actually a tiny bit of self-actualization you've obtained, as you have grown mentally to not think like that toxic 15 year old version of yourself. Self Reflection leads to greater amounts of self actualization happening)
With love from - a very happy lil irish counsellor bi-boy, who's seen those exact phrases being used only by certain people. Us guy's can do it too at times, there's toxic guys out there, but the good one's? they mostly do it in a funny or weird sarcastic way, but if we are being serious with you though, and that sarcasm isn't there? He is being very serious and needs listened to properly. Getting men to open up is like breaking into fort knox but when they do, they will remember every single thing that's said in that conversation and take it quite seriously, so jokes or trying to downplay it, will close him off from you, possibly forever.
Relationships are a team effort to find out if you's are compatible with each other and straight forward communication is the only answer for it's success.
(This is something i could talk about all day long due to the psychology behind it and the amount of women i hear say men don't listen, then go on to tell me they do infact listen to them but just want to help. When us lad's see another lad crying, we know he has had a very bad day and is on the verge of something bad possibly happening "You okay man?" "nah" "wanna chat?" "yea, i think i do" learns what happened "shi7 man, that sucks badly, but it will get better over time, any time you need a chat or any help, i'm here, man" "thanks, i think i needed to get that out of me, i may need some help too with XYZ" "okay, let me know and ill be there". NOW, If we apply this to women, that simple understanding that there's a problem, but only want to vent about it, but do not ever say to their man that that's all they want, they have them GUESSING what they want or why they are crying in the first place. The man is now confused at why there is an argument happening and gets told to leave her alone, he goes to walk away "WHERE ARE YOU GOING, YOU REALLY DON'T CARE?!" "but...but you said you wanted-" "I DIDN'T MEAN IT!!!"
Many guys that have been in relationships built on illogical communication KNOW this exact type of conversation well.
This shows that illogical communication just destroys any type of 'trust' in that relationship, like: "You won't show me your fone for me to go through in detail" = "he IS cheating on me....but has been home every day on time and wanting to 'get busy ;)' when home too, where is the time for said cheating i think he is doing...oh...OHHH THERE ISN'T - I AM the one he wants to come home to and see n talk and eat n have fun with, nothing else. But my girl friends keep telling me that this is break up worthy and enabling this behaviour...why did i listen to them when they barely know him behind closed doors, that moment he goes from 'in public' to 'with just me' he changes into a softy. Now, why would i destroy this?! WHAT WERE THEY TRYING TO DO TO MY RELATIONSHIP THEY HAVE NO REAL CLUE ABOUT OR REASON BASED IN REALITY?!)
