Musical + Literature Fan's First Time Listening to Epic the Musical【Live Reaction】

*Stream Reupload cause youtube shenanigans!!

So, hi, I'm Meimi! A witch Vtuber who is an English major and likes literature and analysis!
I did not specifically study the classics, but like any person, I devoured Greek myths growing up and their pop culture references.

I am a fan of musicals (not a theater kid, just casual enjoyer brought up as a lover of the arts who attended a healthy amount of them, without a deep study of them).
I don't know much about music apart from what I've learned through singing lessons.

Here's how I enjoyed Epic the Musical, having not seen anything about the development.

The beginning of the original poem by Homer actually starts by following Telemachus for quite a while.

54:32 Wait he has a son?
the song: think back to the son of mine, you're as old as he was......

Ah, vtuber reaction of epic, one of my favorite genre

@Shin_FTW 1 year ago

Also, YouTube itself doesn't claim anything. If the owner's not doing it, that means someone is falsely claiming them. Jorge doesn't claim reactions or animatics of his songs. There's one or more people falsely claiming his songs, so it could be appealed. YouTube should really crack down on proven false cases to go after channels that do it.

I just find it funny that every time ody meets a woman it just ends up with him trauma dumping.

@donnzen0_yt 5 months ago

Jorge explained that everytime athena sings it matches with Ody. the plain notes means that her life is gray and when Ody added flair to her plain notes she gradually adopts. on the break up song she uses the flair early on the arrangements and on the last she goes back to being plain. there so many motifs hidden on the songs like an easter egg😂

speaking of :yt: shenanigans, I'm getting "mommy asmr" recommendations in the sidebar :_meiBonk::_meiBonk::_meiBonk:
I don't even watch asmr... except yours on occasion.

I'm sure someone has explained what animatic means, but to just add a comment, basically its a term for one the stages of animation creation. You can think of it as "incomplete animation". The epic fandom does like to stretch the definition of animatic but thats part of the fun

Aah another vtuber reaction.. This makes the experience of listening to epic feel like a new experience

@walkingonair9571 1 year ago

Epic has become one of my favorite things ever recently so getting to watch you react to it is awesome! 😄

This has been a very fun reaction video, you seem to be the most musically and classically knowledgeable vtuber I’ve seen yet. It’s nice to hear from people who know more than I do.

@hotpocket5224 1 year ago

I'm always appalled at live chat in these reactions. they always come off as entitled and impatient to me. yes everyone wants these creators to react to these videos but these people can't just sit there and watch. they seem to be required to outdo each other in trying to ruin the moment for the reactor.

3:00:00 once Odysseyus was torturing Poseidon and he was screaming in "melody" its a fan theory that his screams sounded like that because well it was music to Ody's ears hearing the one person who put him through so much to be in pain.

@samphoenix98 1 year ago

oh additionally when you get the chance its always interesting to see the other animated version of songs as theres a few main artists that have very good direction for how scenes play out for example, just a man, interpreted by gigi, neal illustrator, and wolfythewitch. its all the same song but how it plays out gives difrent depths to it

@tiredguy601 1 year ago

3:28:30 it is speculated that George wrote him as more reasonable because he believes that Homer wrote the odyssey from the Odysseus; who had already completed his journey’s perspective. Where because of the long journey and the guilt, he convinced himself he was to blame or that he pissed off the gods constantly. Where as the writing in EPIC is in the moment, Odysseus doesn’t have time to wallow about blame or his past mistakes, he just wanted to go home and see his wife no matter the cost.

2:40:00 as to why the stream got a copyright claim is generally unknown cause Jorge dosnt copyright claim , and neither do the artists , so my personal hypothesis is that the digital instrumentation used is whats triggering it , cause if i remember right the whole first half of epic had to be reconstructed music using a different instrument package cause the company that distributed it was striking left and right ( the songs old and new sound nearly identical so your not missing anything)

@JahodaMysteries 1 year ago

You mentioning Hermes being more in touch with humans is relatively accurate, due to his Status as God of Travelers he'll often just wander around and if he happens upon a Hero he'll usually give a bit of Advice or just the tool needed to overcome an obstacle in their way.

@samphoenix98 1 year ago

3:02:40 just remembered a fan theory , posidons screams sound like music to odys ears

@samphoenix98 1 year ago (edited)

1:27:37 small fun fact aolus is a male greek god of wind , but since the singer who auditioned for the part was so good they swapped the gender (also Jorge will let any one audition for any roll, so if the voice matches it matches) additionally allot of artists base the appearance of the characters on their singers

1:28:00 well chat had that handled lmao
