NOTE: The upcoming episode 3 also contains a brief recap of what was missed, but for those who want the full Bookshops of Arkham experience, we heartily recommend you check this out.

Even after a technical disaster, this hits a home run. It was like listening to a well done old time radio play.

This is probably the most terrifying metaphor for dementia I've ever heard. Imagine having the memories of your loved ones stolen from you.

This seems like it would have been a very fun episode to watch them play, but I'm grateful they provided us with this great narration by Mark Meer to summarize the events that technology lost.

"Leafing through" the Book of the Forest God? That's the sort of stuff that derailed my games.

Narrator: two terrible suns
Me: twin suns? Carcosa??
Narrator: Carcosa
Me: YES!!

The writing in this was very clever, mixing real mythology, the cthulhu mythos and fairy tales.

Mark Meer is GOAT. Stumbled on this series and can't wait to see it continue.

we gave our memories of this awesome episode to the elder gods, but fortunately we have this awesome narration to remind us! i seriously had low expectations because i generally get bored with live plays but this is extremely well done. the keeper especially is great.

I don't know what they're paying Mark Meer but it's not enough! Bravo!

Holy nuts, that ending!!

On one hand, it's a shame you had technical problems. On the other, I could listen to Mark and Belinda tell creepy stories for days on end.

Looking forward to tonight's episode!

Jesus. Greek mythology, older mythos, European fairy tales, and the King in Yellow. Could this get any better? I’m appalled and amazed. My only quibble is game-wise, we don’t get a chance to hear their decisions/rolls. In particular, the sanity rolls. So it’s more narrative than TTRPG. But I’ll live.

Wow. a sacrifice to save his friends and score the second book.

I know I'm not saying anything everyone else isn't already thinking, but man I wish we could have seen the players act this out. Alas, technology can be a cruel mistress. Mark and Belinda have done a fantastic job of evoking a dreadful atmosphere and filling in the story gaps. ❤

"... then I will take a tale of love..."

Operative word: take. Oof. Poor Hazel 😢

I'm sorry to hear you had technical issues, but this recollection of what happened weirdly fits in. This story and the luxurious setting and costumes and storytelling are really something else !
thanks so much for this

This narrative version was superb, I am so sorry to hear about the technical issues because I bet the acting was brilliant. I really enjoy this series and can't wait for the next episode.
