Man it's insane how fast you're putting out videos considering you don't do this full time. Research, scriptwriting, recording and editing these kind of videos must take loads of time. But your efforts are very appreciated of course, looking forward to this one

Final Fantasy 7 should be on here. It heavily influenced the Japanese role playing genre in the West and led to an abundance of rpgs through ps1 - ps2

1998 had Baldur's Gate 1 and Metal Gear Solid too which were just as influential as Half Life and Zelda

i feel both Final Fantasy 7 & Resident Evil, especially 4 should have been on here too

Loved the video! Though I would personally add The Witcher 3 for three reasons. First, it changed the way dialogue works in games forever. The yellow text to progress and white text to inquire further has since been used in many, many games. Second, The Witcher 3 was THE game that showed people side quests can be just as good as the main quest. They can have amazing writing and depth, not just be meaningless fetch quests or simple “go kill this” tasks. And finaly it was the game that introduced people to the world that felt alive and wasn't just an empty, open world where everything revolved about the player and nothing felt real.

"Shadow of the Colossus" is another influential game recognized as a significant influence on "Elden Ring," particularly in its open-world structure and boss-centric gameplay.

That red dead scene in the beginning looks absolutely stunning. Also, your storytelling always impressive. Great video

Unreal felt the same. Atmospheric music + vast openness = perfection.
Also Space Combat Simulators were omitted as well. Honorable mentions: Wing Commander, Descent Freespace.

I'm surprised MGS 1 wasn't on here, it helped revolutionize storytelling in games.

Imo, the most influential is when you witness games that are basically clones or when one or some of their features are constantly being duplicated in other games.

Just need to point out that Doom was built from the ground up to run in DOS. I can’t imagine trying to run it in Windows 3.11 at the time.

Diablo 2 shouldve been here for introducing how rpgs are nowadays with skill trees, randomized dungeons and loot, endless progression.

A video game movie to watch while I eat. Amazing.

Great video! Personally I‘ve played all of these except Pong! :D
There‘s one thing that I had to swallow though. Though I still play WoW today and have on and off since release, I think it would have been fair to include Everquest in its place, since Everquest really was what inspired WoW in the first place. I get why you made the choice you did and I love seeing WoW on the list, but without Everquest, WoW never would have existed and I think that‘s really what this list is about, right? The games that paved the way.
