These Stories Provoke not just Feelings but in fact Activate Critical Thinking....the Past, Present and Possibilities even without the Monetarial Finances.

The different pictures make it impossible for me to connect with the story because the main characters look different (are they white, black, young, old, blond, brunette...I have no idea).  The Duke & Duchess need to look the same in each picture.

Complacency in a marriage should not be tolerated.

He  focused  more on  Enjoyment and entertainment  than taking his responsibility serious.  Very irresponsible and very sad. 😂

The way the Duchess handled the betrayal at the ball was magnificent.

Ignoring your wife as long as you were together is wrong.. The duchess had every right to leave. No one likes to be left behind or forgotten or treat him like she doesn't exist at alll.

I doubt seriously that one repents that quickly and easily of their lack of love and infidelity.

It makes me feel rage. For the invisible wife

The pictures that show them as older are totally incongruent with the story of 2 years of marriage.

I’m sick of stories where the wives are just completely neglected. How can you describe him as “not a cruel man” when he actively ignores her, avoids her, has her arrive at parties by herself, flirts with other women. Stop it. All of that makes him a very cruel man.

How can the writer of this story say the Duke is not a cruel man.  Ignoring his wife is more than cruelty.  Anyone who practices this kind of behavior is mentally unstable.  He is to be pitied.  He probably can't help himself because being so unaware is woven into the very fabric of his being.  Poor thing.  All his power and everything else that others perceive he has is a myth.  His duchess is to be blamed for allowing him to continue that behaviour for so long

Unfortunately, some times and some people never realized that isolation  breaks relationships

Good story.  This was a different culture.  What is very noticeable to me is that they didn’t communicate with each other.  She had a grievance for two years, but he didn’t even know she was unhappy.  I personally have never been in a marriage where people behave but don’t talk.  I think they were not that uncommon in that time period in the aristocracy, but that could just be a bias from many books of that time period. Stories need tension which becomes resolved, so that bias may be artificial to help the books’ stories along.

Great story. Something to learn from. Glad that husband realised before too late, he needed to himself change to improve on their marriage. Sad, if she left him. He was heartbroken in the cruel past rejection and had never got over it. His wife helped, him to get over that with the help of their housekeeper

He had decided too live without love forgetting that he had not given his wife any indication of how he felt. A very sad story listening from Warren MI USA

Two years is a new marriage. It's a period of adjustment when living patterns are set and personal expectations are communicated. There is no communication between this couple for which both of them are responsible. When she finally speaks up is when things begin to change. Hardly surprising. A great story for people who enjoy stories that move at a snail's pace. A little spice would help. Glad it's almost over.
