Front design looks much much better than BYD sealion 8

I’ve been driving the Jaecoo J8 SHS, also known as the J8 ARDIS (All-Road Drive Intelligent System, the name used in Indonesia), for about 6 months now, with a total of 8,100 km.

In Indonesia, this version is rated at 530 hp and 650 Nm (based on the official website), with a 0–100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds (sport mode)

One thing you didn’t mention in your video is that this J8 PHEV comes with CDC suspension, and the difference between modes is very noticeable. There are three modes: Normal (the softest), Mid, and Sport. In Sport mode, it’s very suitable for highway driving because it feels stable and doesn’t sway at high speeds. Meanwhile, Normal mode is very comfortable for city driving, even though the car uses low-profile tires and 20-inch wheels.

Speaking of high speed, I’ve tested the top speed of this car, and it only goes up to around 185 km/h.

For energy consumption, in full EV mode it averages around 1:7 km/kwh, and on the highway it’s about 1:4 to 1:5 km/kwh. In hybrid mode, fuel consumption in Jakarta’s city traffic is around 1:18 km/l, and on the highway it’s roughly 1:15 to 1:16 km/l.

As for EV range, the maximum I’ve personally achieved is around 140 km in the city, and about 100 km at higher speeds on the highway,, which is not bad considering the size and power of this car

Proper competition to the western manufacturers. They've gone too wild with pricing over the last few years.

Get the Chery Tiggo 9 its basically the same car underneath.

Load weight is 546 kilograms.
Good to see towing capacity of 1600kg .

Just took delivery of one here in Sri Lanka early days but really impressed.

Cool car ! Love it !

we had a citroen with that seating configuration but there was no boot left when the back row were seats. This seems to still have boot space. 🙂

Love that everyone is forced to acknowledge Jaecoo now. Before I bought my J7 SHS, I couldn't find a single positive review from anyone in the UK - no one was "paid" to review it so they slated it, including CarWow, now they've given J7 Car of The Year! Humble pie..

Nick. A great review… I really liked it especially the colour of the interior you drove.. looks brilliant and the standard of specification you get for the money… wish all the other manufacturers gave you that. 👍

Zeekr 8x 🎉 review pls .

Nice review as always Nick. Would definitely be interested to hear more about Chinese car brands here in the UK. Reliability, real range, specs, driving experience, availability of parts etc.

Might be interesting to see a well spec’d Range Rover too…love where the channel is going.

Oh, and do see if you can manage a review of the outgoing AMG GLC43 please, would love to hear your thoughts.

For less money than an GLB (EQB) much more car. Stiff competion for Mercedes (and Tesla). Nice review Nick!

Front looks like previous gen Audi Q5...soo not bad!😊 Are new chinese brands realy good? Only time will tell.

Why didn't you show what it is like in the 6 and 7th seats?

I guess at least these big brands will be like most branded clothing at this point... not technically better, just more expensive for the logo... idk if thats a good thing tho...

Don't think the grill is large enough. I'd like a car that's all grill...can you imagine

I can almost smell the fear of the nay sayers.

That dashboard is giving me mercedes vibes

I drove the J7 last year and for the price it’s a lot of Car which is reflected in the sales figures. I’m not so sure I’d be paying 45k plus, they need to be very careful at this price point, Id rather put my money elsewhere than have an expensive JAECOO on my driveway.
