I wish I had known how long it takes to use up a makeup product. Influencers rarely talk about this, if at all. We definitely don’t need to be buying things as often as we think!

This is actually such an accurate introspection on what we love to use and is such a good exercise to start understanding what works for your complexion and what products you should buy and keep in your makeup kit! I've stopped buying by impulse and reduced my overconsumption in makeup overall!

I’ve been auditing my makeup (without even realising it lol) since I started working 40 hours a week back in April. With limited time in the mornings and to be creative I really took a long hard look to find the pieces that worked hard for my new lifestyle. And boy have I cut down spending on MU and  now just repurchase repeats. Thank god😅

I recently developed eyelid dermatitis BAD and had to declutter pretty much everything but Clinique and Tarte.  It was crazy emotional.  You’re right.   Makeup is emotional and a part of our self identity.   ❤❤❤

Wait! Everyone should watch this as it's not just about makeup. Your approach and these methodologies can be applied to and improve every aspect of life. I found myself remembering to be compassionate towards myself this morning, and I feel empowered to start evaluating what I've chosen and why, and what I want to let go of and what I want moving forward. Heartfelt thank you, Amanda. I will revisit this often!

It takes a while to understand what you really want. After being influenced to buy more than you need with your hard earned money, i hesitate to throw or gift away. I gift products that don’t work for my skin type. I’ll use everything else until it’s gone and then only purchase my favourites to replace. I feel joy with an empty and I’m slowly getting through my stash🤗 And of course it’s a year of no buys for me to be able to do this. Living and learning…

One of my goals for the new year is to only minimally buy make-up as I know I buy it as a means of endorphin release. Thanks so much for this!

This is the smartest and most helpful video I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you!

How about putting "Intentional Makeup Audit" in the title too? I think lots of enthusiasts will find this video helpful.

The same steps can be apllied succesfully to organize your closet or kitchen supplies. Without being objective and spending some time to think about some purchases we will be stuck in pointless buying and decluttering cycle.

I do makeup audit all the time! Keeps me from buying too much stuff 😅

I'm also on a low-buy plan for 2025. I won't buy any new products unless I'm lacking something in my collection. The big jar of Eucerin or Cetaphile or CeraVe cream is what I'm currently using since I saw the 50ml jar costs almost the same price and normally, creams in that amount go away within 2-3 months if using every day. Their shelf life is normally up to a year so I'm not worrying the big jar expires.

Great, much needed video. I'm 67 and have really toned everything down to the minimum.  This audit really helped with my decluttering process. The part of the video where you're filming with the windows behind you, YOUR NATURAL BEAUTY came shining through the screen!!!!!!!! And your hair!!!!!😍

I’ve been running a beauty inventory spreadsheet for years, I feel so understood 😅

Amanda you offer such unique and useful perspectives when it comes to makeup. You are like a banker or a consultant really😅😅

I do two makeup audits a year: Oct and Jan.  October, I review how my makeup worked for me and what I need to purchase for the new year.  For example, I only needed to replace/repurchase my favourite blush palette and my favourite concealer.  I had enough unopened mascaras for the new year and need to finish my favourite products in the other areas.  In January,  I made sure I purchased and received the products.  And January,  I review techniques to best use my favorite products.  Thank you for helping me complete my January audit, and I am having fun learning how to apply products with a lighter hand.  Happy New Year!

I just did a lot of declutters before clicking on this video. I saw a lot of makeup, skincare and fragrance samples in my travel bag that I don't remember I got them how long ago. Usually, I use those samples on my trip in case of it's not convenient to bring full-sizes on the flight. Some of them did end up finished on the trip, while some of them not.

You've became my favourite  youtuber. Your inteligent, talented, honest and kind rewievs are very appreciated and useful.
 Love from Romania❤

Incredibly useful!  Thanks so much for taking the time to give this to us.  I know I'm going to see it mentioned by others because it's a critical process none of us are doing.

I love this, Amanda! Going to check your website next! I love the woo-woo stuff about approaching with compassion. I have a large collection and I often feel shame when trying to tackle it (the waste of unused/unwanted products, the guilt over the money spent, etc.). The compassion and curiosity allows me to bypass those hang-ups as well as insecurities I discover I have--consciously or otherwise--as I analyze and audit my collection. Thank you so much!!❤❤❤
