Labour won the by election because it's always been a Labour safe seat, plus the candidate is a local councillor, the electorate knew her, and let's just say demographics.

The Irony from the editors at the formerly so called 'Paper of Record'  - to caĺl anyone a charlatan!!

He should be pushing for free NHS dentistry.

What has been found out is the unfailing support of the MSM in the UK for Israel. Not even one small Party can be permitted to reduce Zionist content. We see what happens when they dare. Total media panic.

Unintelligent presenter who starts on about "bin chicken" - that's the level of intellect that has been employed.  Then goes on about taking your shoes off for dinner.  That's the first 4 minutes of the show.
The guests are no better..

I think the chat about Polanski resigning  misunderstands the Green Party in a couple of ways. He has a huge amount of support within the party. He's made a bigger impact on politics than any Green leader has before, even if their success is waning. Most members have joined since he became leader so his position is strong. Most Greens understand he has been successful in a way because they forced Labour to change. Lots of people saying they think the result is good - they're still new to competing for seats generally.

The other misunderstanding is what Greens see as leadership. It's member led. He didn't tell them what to think but he did state his opinion on the motion which is he'd only support it with 2 amendments - clarifying members of Zionist synagogues were to be explicitly unaffected and that the party shouldn't call for a one state solution because it's up to Palestinians and Israelis. Those amendments failed so he didn't support it. The members have given him a real headache though. Allowing members power is difficult. It's why Labour, the Tories and Reform try not to.

Starmer cant be 'that' driven by social duty as he resigned immediately after the election. NATO - absolutely not, as he resigned he deserves NOTHING.

I'm honestly so tired of hearing about Israel.

Our media and politicians won't defend us, but god forbid someone annoys Bibi

'Can Zack Polanski control the Green Party?' The short answer is NO - not because he lacks charisma, but because the party is not STRUCTURED in that way. Policy is formed by the membership, who put forward motions, which are then VOTED on by the membership. There are downsides to such an arrangement, but it is 100% democratic. The potentil issue with this is that of entryism - ie large numbers of people can join a political party with their OWN agenda in order - in effect - to TAKE OVER that party.

Some argue that this is what has happened with the 'Zionism is Racism' motion. This may (or may not) be the case in this instance, but it does serve to highlight the dilemma faced by ALL political parties who wish to be as democratic as possible.

Whether this total democratic approach to forming policy is the best way forward is another matter - but to blame Polanski for the result of this vote seems very unfair.

The two main pillars of Green Party policy are:

a) A focus on environmental matters, and
b) A focus on combatting poverty and inequality by progressive taxation (not so much on earned income but on UNEARNED income).

And whilst 100% of Green members wish to see a stop to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and now in Lebanon (regardless of how they voted on the Zionism is Racism motion), this is NOT one of the two main policies listed above.

This argument over the definition of Zionism is something of a distraction from the core policies of the Green Party, a distraction which the media seem all too keen to exploit in order to take attention AWAY from the UK's most pressing issues, which Polanski so eloquently described in his very moving address to Conference on Friday.

So - NO, Polanski does NOT control the Green Party. (This is unlike Reform, where Farage and ONLY Farage gets to dictate policy. Polanski doesn't have that authority). But maybe that is the WRONG question...

If Starmer led the coalition of the willing in Europe, that would put him at odds with Andy Burnham who thinks social security can’t be sacrificed for national security as well as John Healey. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate revenge?

ZPs  pic would make a good Halloween Poster ?

Times proves its utter irrelevance beyond boomer gammon. Popped in to see what the dynamite is against Polanski... took 5s to see it's a damp squib.

And so it starts. These poeple are so transparent. They did the same with Corbyn now it's Zak Polanski that is in the firing line.

Dangerous dave😂

The msm are having kittens about this and trying to blame Polanski... and do a 'Corbyn' on him.

On the 10th October [2023] the University and College Union, the largest union for academics in the UK, issued a statement which condemned    in the strongest possible terms the targeting of CIVILIAN life by both Hamas and the Israeli military, and we also condemn instances of Antisemitism and Islamophobia that we have witnessed since the violence unfolded.
On the 11th October Gillian Keegan, [then] Secretary of State for Education, wrote a letter to all Vice-Chancellors in the UK, which criticised the UCU statement as “grossly insensitive and unhelpful”, and asked them to “pay particular attention to any invitations issued by staff or students at your institution to speakers on this subject in order to ensure that any such events do not provide a platform for illegal speech.”
Gillian Keegan could reasonably request that universities do not provide platforms for illegal speech – in particular speech that is antisemitic, or incites terrorism. However, the UCU statement was not illegal speech. For Gillian Keegan to write to Vice-Chancellors criticising this statement was an abuse of government power.
These pro-genocide politicians are all just worms.

Hero to zero, think I need to look up the meaning of hero

So funny to see the Times losing it over Polanski and let's face it the Zionism is Racism decision. For an imperial mouthpiece like the Times it must threaten their status quo. Hence the pile on and flack

Yes we need strong leaders...like Maggie and Trump, what can possibly go wrong with a self obsessed bully in charge! Think for yourselves folks rather than listening to this 'opinion' dressed up as fact.

Wow I hope the times don't read the comments. They'll realise telling people what to think isn't working. Free Palestine.

😂😂😂

Whose opinion ???! 🤔🤦🤦🤦
