The Dutch painter Suzan Schuttelaar used to work with life models, but is working with AI (artificial intelligence) nowadays.
While we were painting our portraits we had a conversation about women in art, our times at the art academies and our careers.

Holy crap, she is so good and so fast! So cool to see how she bravely starts just painting the highlights over the dark background and the face comes to life immediately. No sketching or measuring. Each brushstroke is deliberate, has meaning, and helps to define the shape of a volume, very efficient.

much respect to Susan for not falling for that predatory "teacher"s proposition at such a young age and for forging ahead on her own path... thank you Titus for the interview podcasts so we can meet all different kinds of people and hear their stories

Despite what life throws at them, setbacks, and disappointments involving other people, two artists still find their own paths to creativity and fulfillment. Bravo! And brava!

Titus, there is a light inside you that brings forth beauty and optimism and definitely distinguishes you from other artists. Thank you!

I think it`s very important to discuss sensitive things, everyone should do so. Love the conversation and your paintings. Thank you!

Very interesting exchange between two very different artists. Thank you for sharing this moment of creative intimacy.

I will watch this again because I was thrown off track by comments about instructors. So much the same old story. I was never propositioned in art school but as a fine arts major there were other humiliations. I was called arrogant and insolent and lacking humility because I asked for a change from a teacher I disliked to an extra drawing course with a live model. So it went fifty years ago.
So, once my recollections disappeared I was able to enjoy this very much. Thank you Titus. Watching you paint is an honor. Beautiful portrait.

wow.Suzan ...speech-less at the freedom to just 'do it' instantly...and Titus you really captured Susans essence. Thank you both.

I'm so glad she is still creating art Titus after that event. I sadly grew up around inappropriate people, which left life long damage. It was again interesting to hear you both and watch your processes of painting each other. All the best, John

They were brave to open themselves up in this way. Fascinating for us though. I had many questions along the way.

I love the conversation. About galleries, selling watching other artists; ways of working, as an artist it’s wonderful to know that I’m not weird!!!

I love that somebody else listens to the Harry Potter audio books on repeat while they paint! My life has been justified

Loved it Titus, I think your films are always great. Suzan comes over as very distant.

I was full of admiration for how she painted your portrait from a dark background. Your work also ended in a well-like portrait. Wonderful to have seen this.

Merci pour cette belle approche de la peinture

Two powerful and independent individuals. Loved the job. Susan was an accurate portrait by Titus. And Suzan shows her strength through her painting. ❤
