"mutated toad crossed with a demon shark" is now my favorite way to describe a crocodile

Considering the marketing for Godzilla vs Kong really favored Kong in its trailers having Godzilla’s name be given this fancy font while Kong gets nothing is oddly cathartic

9:15 ah yes, my favorite movie, the island of red bamboos

2:31 "Special effects are above average"
Truly some high level praise

12:18 it’s 2025 and someday we’ll get soldiers watching soccer

An individual could make an entire series based around bad box art and never run out of material.

8:20 that's the specific Ghidrah VHS I had all those years back! Probably the most played and replayed VHS tape at my parent's house to this day, lol. I never caught the detail of the spine art however, things you miss as a kid I guess.

It's actually fascinating that most of these case art had the same vibes as those infamous hand-painted Ghanaian movie posters where the artists were probably just told scenes that happened (or never happened) in the movie, and they just painted whatever they imagined in their minds.

Extermination 2025 is straight up baffling to me. Like, that's just an existing image that they reused.

It's like the designer was told "it's a science fiction film" and nothing else

The main reason why many of those tapes had art that had absolutely nothing to do with what happened in the movies is because of lot of them did not have the rights to release the films. So bizarre, misrepresentative cover art would hide what movie is actually on the tape.

7:00 - Quite possibly the first time that sentence was ever spoken in human history.

9:20 DUDE THEY RENAMED IT "LA ISLA DE LOS BAMBÚES ROJOS", THAT'S SPANISH FOR "THE ISLAND OF THE RED BAMBOOS". They were clearly referring to the evil organization from the film, but it's just so bizarre as a title for this movie. From what I've seen, it's the argentinian release. I'm very intrigued since few kaiju flicks get distributed here, at least nowadays, and it's mostly the american adaptations, so this might be one of the first and few times a japanese one got here.

1:48 This one brings back memories when I saw this in Walmart when I was so young
8:15 Yo! I remember those. I had Mechagodzilla, 1985, and Ghidorah.
9:53 That one I had and would stare at it for a long time. Something about the artwork caught my attention.

3:17 Bro... That's litterly just an alligator...

I unironically want a poster of the "Extermination 2025" art just so I can have my friends see it, ask about it, then just show them Godzilla vs Gigan

0:52 Hey! It's the old Australian Rating and Classification for movies.

I like how there's so much other chaos going on, it wasn't even worth mentioning the purple Gigan at 8:56

Such a niche little video that’s extremely pleasant to watch thanks to your narration.

Love these videos, I have the Godzilla vs The Sea Monster canadian version sitting on my shelf haha

Ayyy I was actually thinking about you making a video? Kinda shocked by this but I needed this today! Your vids always make me interested in things like strange Kaiju art, or that alien star fish film etc.
