Stevenson is genuinely the most useless station on this earth and I'm so happy everyone can agree about that

I agree with this list ESPECIALLY Stevenson station it angers me that Metrolinx thought these stations were needed. as someone who uses and lives in the area of line six removing these stops will be a game changer.

I’d keep Albion as it has access to Albion mall and the TTC 73 Royal York bus.

While i agree for some stops to be removed the Arrow Road stop I think is important especially for  TTC employees trying to get to and from Arrow Road division without looping on the 99 bus

Driftwood station prevents overcrowding at Jane and finch because of students that use it during rush hour and Norfinch oakdale serves Westview a school of like 1000+ people they are both extremely busy stations throughout the day

So it's not just a downtown streetcar problem lmao. For examples, it always baffled me that there's a stop on Joe Shuster and Jefferson on the 504 line with only 100m distance between them.

To this day I am uncertain why Metrolinx wanted to put FOUR stations between Humber College and Kipling. It's not like the area is densely populated nor are any of the proposed developments going to result in such density. It's comically absurd how close the stations are together. The Albion Mall is basically serviced by THREE stations (Albion, Stevenson, Mount Olive). For context: that's more than the Eaton Centre.

Personally, they should get rid of Westmore and Stevenson the most as they're extremely redundant. They can funnel the rest of the traffic to Albion and Mount Olive stations respectfully.

Same thing for Peardale and Duncanwoods - just choose one station at the halfway point.

If done properly this LRT could've been gold with just ~12 stations. Instead they piled on 18. If they ever do an east extension to Finch (which is way more densely populated) I wonder if they'll do a station every 50 m.

Alright so Stevenson is not useless at all, only people who aren't from the area think it's useless and peardale also is very good for the plaza near it. Albion also is a very key Station, if that was to get removed then Stevenson would have to stay. Otherwise everyone would have to rely on Olive. And that station is way too congested during school days.

Agree on Duncanwoods and Stevenson

Driftwood cannot and should not be touched.  It's not only a large trip generator, but is also an important transfer point for 108 Driftwood.  Same with Albion.  Signet Arrow is less of an issue simply because other than the 99 Arrow, the 84 bus that runs only does so in Rush Hour.

I agree the stops are too far apart for such a low density area but maybe metrolinx was anticipating future growth as high density developments are going to start popping up along the line. Or maybe I’m giving them too much credit

The list at @1:15 seems ok because these stations have connections with bus routes & shops surrounding it & a decent gap between them. However I'd personally keep Signet Arrow due to connections with 99 Arrow Rd. & Albion due to connections with 73 Royal York & the shops surrounding it & Westmore due to connections with not only bus routes but the Plaza adjacent to Westmore Station.

I feel like this should definitely happen 😭, but maybe the trail run could be using the removable stations only on the weekend or non rush hour times

Thanks for sharing this.   When I first rode Line 6 on opening day I thought the stations west of Hwy 400 were a little too close together for my taste with litterally under a minute ride between some of them.  Sometimes maybe 2 minutes depending on red lights

The issue with both lines 5 and 6 is that Metrolinx can't decide whether they want community service or rapid transit. Even some underground stations on line 5 are kind of close together comparing to average stop spacing in subways outside Canada. Only exceptions may be Paris, Madrid and Barcelona, where early metros replaced trams.
