Thanks for watching- I tried to put affiliate links under most of the products when possible (this helps me out a bit if you use these links to purchase) but here's one for the Freedom Guitar Work Products from Japan https://global.fcgrtokyo.com/accessories,care-products.html

As an amateur self taught tech for the last 20 years, it gives me massive confidence knowing that not only do I have ALL of the tools he has (maybe different brands), but I know how to use them and understood everything he said. Glad to know I'm at least decent enough to go on the road!

I did guitar work for 15 years - this was like old home week. The one thing I didn't think about was that, on the road, the tech is The Man for everything so he has to be ready for literally everything. I hate to think about what that could entail. Great episode, Shane.

Gotta love rock and roll and the lifestyle AND keep it together to do well at that job. Kudos to him for being THAT guy. Crowes are lucky to have him.

I’m a guitar tech and I’ve got about 75% of these tools… the other 25% are now on my shopping list so thanks for the tips man!!

Great video with lots of pertinent information all the way down to the extremely important nail file, they can be a life saver. I love the book recommendations. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.✌️

Shane: This was awesome once again, and it’s gonna affect my bank account again too! I have a lot of the tools, the books, but there are gaps too!

These episodes with Doug are great. A couple years ago i started buying cheaper and mid-tier guitars just to learn my own setups. I cant afford high end or vintage, and i'm only intermediate player anyway. It's been fun to learn the skills and i've been saving $ doing the work myself. I'm not doing the complicated work (full fret jobs, acoustic necks, etc) but i've learned the basics and my soldering is slowly getting better. I just made a long list of Doug's recommendations. Thanks for sharing the knowledge!

Re: 20:18 Martin truss rods and "all these things I learned the hard way", the the first time I came across a Martin guitar that needed the long truss rod (back in 2010) I didn't know about it. I couldn't find or see the nut and I thought the guitar somehow shipped without a truss rod. I shipped it back to the distributor. They shipped the guitar right back, including the big long tool and a very nice handwritten note explaining my mistake. I felt stupid, but I learned! Great to see Gerry Hayes' book too. It's THE electronics reference for guitars and everyone should have it.
