California, 1955.
Jeanne Holman tries to keep her family together while waiting for news of her husband, who disappeared during the Korean War.
Every day she must care for her two children alone and protect them from a world that keeps moving on without them.
One afternoon, while driving along a quiet road, Jeanne swerves to avoid a dog and accidentally hits a mysterious drifter named Jack McCloud.
The accident leaves him with a leg injury.
Although her neighbors are suspicious of the stranger, Jeanne feels she must take responsibility for what happened and allows him to stay temporarily in her home while he recovers.
Jack has no money.
He doesn't talk much about his past.
And he seems to belong nowhere.
But behind his weary appearance lies a strange serenity.
Little by little, Jack becomes an important presence in Jeanne's children's lives. He teaches them to trust themselves, face their fears, and discover that true strength isn't always about winning.
Jeanne also begins to see the mysterious visitor in a different light.
His arrival brings joy back to a house marked by absence.
However, things that are difficult to explain happen around Jack.
Impossible moments.
Coincidences that seem too perfect.
And wishes that appear to have the power to come true.
As the family begins to believe in the future again, Jeanne understands that some people come into our lives for a reason, even if they aren't meant to stay forever.
A Stranger Came to Their House and Changed Their Lives Forever is a moving fantasy drama starring Patrick Swayze about a family that discovers hope, love, and magic in the most unexpected place.
