The Purpose of Evangelization - Bishop Barron at the Good News Conference

Bishop Robert Barron

Friends, why do we bother to evangelize? In my keynote address at the Good News Conference, I share the two main reasons. The first is to save souls from Hell, both in the eternal and temporal sense, to free them from destructive patterns and bring them to healing through right praise. The second reason we evangelize is to let people know who their Lord is. We do this through living out the universal call to holiness, which includes a life committed to poverty, chastity, and obedience.

This was maybe the single best talk I've ever heard Bishop Barron give: summarizing the 4 great addictions of the world, the hell of "bad praise", the meaning of the cross, and the point and origins of evangelization. I wish every Catholic in the world could hear this and take it to heart.

Each day I desire to have a personal encounter with my Lord Jesus Christ and listening to Bishop Baron helps me understand what I must do? Which army am I fighting? The Lord’s army. Jesus I love you! Have mercy on the whole world

Bishop Baron reinvigorates our faith, he makes it come alive and seamlessly for the laity to understand the pillars of our Catholic faith. Brings the gospel alive and relevant in our lives today. Proud yet humble unapologetic Catholic in defending our faith

The evangelization of this great Bishop and pastor brought me back to the church and consequently to a deeper understanding of Christ. C.S Lewis said “ I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it but because by it, I see everything else.” The Catholic Church has helped this sinner to begin to see everything else through a life in the risen Christ. Thank you Bishop Barron.

Barron is on Fire! With this ! We have got to send our message to people who are different than us. Billy Graham was just one man - who led millions to Christ - Barron has the talent to do the same - just tone down the flaming vocablary - and BAM ! Can we imagine tens of thousand once again filling stadiums, to hear the very sacrament of the word ! Priest, Bishops, and Cardinals are going to have to get out in the public - there's a lot more to evangelism than just keeping the front door of the church unlocked !

Your Lordship I have always respected your wisdom and God inspired passion but the grand finale of the audience applauding you brought me to tears as I think that is what the angels in heaven also did simultaneously and the whole world will do as I just did too even after over a year of your talk being online! God bless you. Amen Alleluia
