In this weeks video, I look into American Dad's most controversial and hated character, Rogu. What happened this character? Was he removed from the show all together?
On this channel we look at the funniest American Dad and Family Guy moments from Peter, Lois, Chris, Meg and Brian. As well as other Family Guy characters from Quahog Rhode Island.

Rogu is funny in small doses. He doesn’t have to be prominently featured in every episode - he works well exactly how they’re using him.

I actually like when he is randomly in the background doing nothing. Makes it feel more real(I know that sounds dumb)

People hate rogu???

Rogu isn't the cute new child/sidekick trope, he's a parody of that trope. They specifically made him deformed and disgusting to take away from the cuteness. He speaks slowly while the new characters added in the trope are usually high energy, like Scrappy for example. Having Rogu fade into the background is making fun of how when shows use that trope, they would focus more on the new characters, taking attention away from the beloved old characters, and making fans dislike the new character.

Look at how The Simpsons made fun of that trope with Poochie, they exaggerated that trope. Poochie was that trope dialed up to the max. Rogu is the other side of the coin, he makes fun of the trope by doing the opposite of everything you expect from it.

The Rogu episode was actually the first American Dad episode I ever saw of him. I like him. He's just a little guy

I can’t help but notice that the Rogu hate posts were far closer to his debut

@Airwinsy9948 1 year ago

I don't think the writers don't know what to do with him, they've already shown that they can make Rogu the focus of an episode.
Rogu's main purpose is to be a supporting/background character, something for us like "omg Rogu is there"

The way he delivers his lines...really funny to me 😂

I find it ironic that this show got rid of Reginald Koala because they felt there were too many talking non-human characters, yet they brought in Rogu who is essentially Roger's Mini Me. I don't hate Rogu, but why get rid of Reginald just to bring in Rogu?

Rogu is so good 😢 he just pops in every now and again and never overstays his welcome. I really don't get the hate for him

@Mattking-240 1 year ago

They underutilized Rogu so much that i genuinely thought they killed him offscreen in a throwaway line like Chris Parnell baby in Family Guy. I really do hope they do more with him this season

i had no idea people hated rogu tbh. hes my favorite character i think hes adorable and a great addition to the show

Tuttle singing Last Resort while Rogu "plays" with his car always gets me

I thought that title would go to Billy. I still can’t believe sometimes that’s Kevin Michael Richardson too.

Rogu is cool in small doses and the show knows it.

I like how American Dad sparingly uses Rogu instead of how Fairly Oddparents thrusted Poof and...(uhhh, wait what was the dog's name again)?

@TylerDillschoolwork 1 year ago

Rogu is the mascot character that everyone enjoys. Literally shows up, make everyone laugh, and then retreat into the darkness objectively making him 1000x better than the Geneva Convention violation known as Scrappy Doo.

@olivejuice5772 1 year ago

I kind of like that they use him sparingly. ❤ ive come around to him and find Rogu adorable. When he was massaging Roger’s head I was like awwwhhh

1:24 is such a underrated line

Rogu has been the best addition to the cast <3 If Rogu has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Rogu has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Rogu has only one fan then that is me. If Rogu has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Rogu, then I am against the world.
