In this video, I share some thoughts and experiences about fingerboard wheel materials: plastics and urethanes. I tell you the benefits and drawbacks of each one, explain my preferences and experiences, and more.
In short, I enjoy both, and I prefer plastic fingerboard wheels, such as FlatFace and also Sunpower, because they both make it easier for me to do fingerboarding tricks. My style on plastic wheels is smoother and more effortless! I also enjoy urethane wheels too, especially the harder urethane wheels like Blistered 72D ultra. Urethane wheels give more "feeling" and realism, while Plastic wheels definitely excel in performance and make fingerboarding easier.
I have fingerboard setups with all kinds of wheels on them depending on the board and the mood! You can enjoy both in different ways, and some people will prefer Plastic, other people will enjoy Urethane. Most of the best fingerboarders in the world use plastic wheels most of the time, and most of them also enjoy using urethane wheels for fun, for outdoors, or for a nice feeling on smooth granite!

Exposition dump aside, I just wanted to say that I had zero idea that fingerboarding took off like it did and I'm truly thankful for what you've done for the community. I've been pouring through your videos and it's been a ton of fun and I'm so hype to get my hands on a modern fingerboard and start recording.

Having said that, there are definitely certain things I do find easier with slippery. I should also say that, even in my Oak collection, the grippiness varies drastically set to set. Also, I cannot use Oaks on a bare wood top (like Blackriver ramps) as that grip is absolutely bonkers.
