Studio version is one of the single best songs ever written in the history of rock. Give it a listen

Just imagine back in the day enjoying this good music our heads were filled with psychedelics and or something else there never was any violence we enjoyed the moment😊

I have 100s of favorite bands and 1000s of favorite songs, but Led Zep is my all time favorite, and Stairway to Heaven is my all time favorite song. It's great!

The bass/keyboard player, John Paul Jones is playing it. On the original recording, he plays a recorder which sounds like a flute. I believe the live instrument is called a Mellotron.

I don't know why people always recommend the live version of this. The studio version of this track is far superior.

6:25 it was a keyboard with the flute integrated into it, they showed John Paul Jones playing it in the beginning

What you call "wind pipes" is actually keyboards, a mellotron is I am not mistaken. They are being played by the bassist of the band who plays many instruments and is known as the secret weapon of the band. Pay attention to the beginning of the video and you will see him.

They showed JPJ playing the keys 🎹 at the beginning - he’s making the “flute” sounds and playing “bass” with his feet. Watch it again and take it all in! It’s just phenomenal! Led Zeppelin, best band ever🎶! “Do you remember laughter? Priceless!” Gotta love Robert Plant! 🎤John Bonham killing it on the drums🥁 as per usual with Jimmy Page doing his wizardry on the double neck guitar 🎸 🎸!

You guys may enjoy 'You Shook Me' by Led Zeppelin from their debut album. It's a real trippy blues number.

Greatness NEVER gets old, over 50 years ago. This is exactly why you go see the LIVE! They totally go off. It`s a shame
their drummer died, but props to LZ they didn`t try to replace Mr. Bonham (who you can`t!)
