Donguri gave birth to Korokoro at the remarkable age of twenty-three. While biologically possible, such a late pregnancy is extremely rare among Japanese macaques. At the time, it seemed unlikely that Donguri would live long enough to see Korokoro grow up. Yet she defied expectations, watching her daughter reach six years of age and becoming the last surviving member of her generation before peacefully passing away. She fulfilled everything she needed to in her lifetime.

淡路島に生息するニホンザルは遺伝的にはヤクザルに近いことが研究機関の調査で判明されています。
